Parts Product Analyst
JOB PURPOSE: To perform processes related to sourcing and releasing to drive procurement and cost accounting for all service parts worldwide. This includes determining material code, source of supply, and bill of distribution for all new service parts being set up by Authorizations. Manage and negotiate source of supply changes initiated by Product Group, manufacturing facilities, or Global Purchasing.
Review engineering prints, Doclib, Purchasing Practice 45, World Source and User, and Mach 1, and interface with Authorizations, engineering, manufacturing supply chains, and purchasing personnel to determine make-buy, material code, source of supply and bill of distribution for all new part set ups. Analyst reviews 1E specifications on prints and engineering data to determine part/product characteristics and usage, and then utilizes purchasing documents to assign material code and source of supply. In addition reviews Lognet and PO Tool information for manufacturing open purchase orders to determine entry point and BOD. Corrects new part grief due to incorrect set ups in PARs and aligns supplier to entry point to support MCPN and BOD Optimization Strategies.
Also monitors manufacturing activity to update material code, make-buy, source of supply, and engineering change activity to determine impact to service parts procurement and make appropriate updates to releasing information. Perform analysis of engineering changes/part versions and make appropriate updates to station lists.
Make modifications to SAS jobs to supply audits of parts to source facility so they can maintenance and update their records for parts they are responsible for.
Update Bill of Distribution, Source of Supply, Material Code, and Engineering Change/Part Version in Sourcing and Releasing Online (SARO) and delete planned schedules in SPM. Communicate as needed to downstream partners.
Review shared email account to determine appropriate actions and make updates to inquiries by GSND segment/site buyers, engineering, Authorizations, Material Availability, and other downstream partners.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: Experience with parts product structure, Lognet, DCC (Excel Spread sheets), SPM, Engineering Data System (EDS), World Source and User, Mach 1, Print Reading, Basic SAS and knowledge of Caterpillar products and facilities worldwide. Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. College degree is preferred as well as experience in Inventory Management, Purchasing, or Material Availability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Maths / Science / Commerce
- 3 to 5 years’ experience with Caterpillar parts product structure, LOGNET, DCC, SPM, Engineering Data System (EDS), World Source and User, Mach1, Print Reading.
- Basic SAS skills
- Must have excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
- Strong technical skills in MS Office – Excel
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong customer focus and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
- Willingness to work and support in any shift timing (US/UK)
APICS CPIM or CSCP certification
